Meet our event planning duo who vow to take your event to the next level

Looking to celebrate an occasion or host an event? With our venues spanning Yorkshire and Derbyshire including private function rooms to seat 40, iconic party venues, lively sports bars and cosy traditional pubs, we've got all. And with an unstoppable duo behind the scenes, you’re guaranteed an unforgettable event.

Laura O’Brien and Lauren Jackson, True North’s very own Sales and Events Executives bring their wealth of experience to any occasion.

Hailing from Liverpool, Laura started out as a wedding planner in Sheffield, she has since gone on to plan just about every event you can think of - charity events, hen parties, birthdays, anniversaries, business launches, christenings – the list goes on. Then back in January 2018, Laura joined the True North team, and with 11 venues, a brewery and a gin distillery, there’s never been a dull moment.

Talking about what is key in the industry she says “listen, be flexible and communicate! Each event is different, and it is vital to establish what is important to your customer. We understand that not everybody wants the same thing and that helps us push our boundaries as well to doing something above and beyond for you. You need a great team to carry out your events and so great communication between you and them is essential to ensure the event is a total success. We are very lucky in True North in that we have brilliant staff in all venues who have the same drive as we do.

The other half in the duo is Lauren; with a strong background in the hospitality industry, her degree in Business Management and Hospitality took her to the Republic of Ireland before coming to Sheffield. Prior to True North, Lauren worked her way up from food & beverage assistant, receptionist and Wedding & Events coordinator, learning all there is to know about the industry and giving her an unparalleled wealth of experience she brings to her current role every single day.

With Lauren’s abilities, she has a confident work ethic, perfect for events planning. “I love being able to work alongside my customer to create an event which meets and even exceeds their expectations, whether it’s the perfect wedding day or organizing a medical conference and everything in between. I work alongside a passionate team of managers, staff & chefs, who strive to provide the best experience for our customers. With our combined knowledge and excellent communication from the get-go, we create a memorable experience, providing unique spaces, delicious food and a friendly service.”

Laura and Lauren’s next motto? “Make friends! A good relationship with our customers is essential to make them feel comfortable and confident that we are the right people for the job. If you have a good rapport with your customers, then you will better understand them and what they want. We have such a variety of venues and extras for any occasion, it’s vital we understand their expectations – we love meeting with our customers and going through the whole journey together!”
