Sheffield, UK – Friday 2nd May 2025 – True North Brew Co. is proud to have supported local metalcore band Malevolence as they filmed their latest music video in the historic Abbeydale Picture House. The band, formed in Sheffield in 2010, has made waves in the international metal scene with three studio albums, an EP, and their own independent label, MLVLTD Music. They are currently gearing up for their biggest-ever UK and EU headline tour.
Malevolence approached True North Brew Co. to use the fly tower section of Abbeydale Picture House, drawn to its unique and dramatic architecture. True North owner Kane Yeardley, who recently acquired the iconic venue, was eager to accommodate their request.
“As a lover of all music and a strong supporter of local talent, I was more than happy to help Malevolence. Most of the band members grew up in this area, and it’s fantastic to see them achieving such success,” said Yeardley.
Given the building's listed status and current condition, True North ensured that all health and safety regulations were strictly followed during filming. Due to these considerations, the team required that no amplification be used on-site.
True North Brew Co. sees this collaboration as the first of many cultural and creative projects to take place at Abbeydale Picture House. As the venue undergoes restoration, it will be a prime space for film shoots, art exhibitions, and live performances. Yeardley also extended an invitation to Malevolence to return for a live show once renovations are complete—a proposal the band enthusiastically accepted.
“This building is a treasure, and we want to see it thrive as a creative hub for Sheffield. Supporting local artists—of all genres—is a huge part of that,” Yeardley added.

Abbeydale Picture House is such a stunning location, it's the perfect backdrop for a music video, especially something with the intensity I imagine Malevolence brings. The contrast between the venue's elegance and their sound must be incredible. This is exactly the kind of local collaboration that makes Sheffield so special. Huge respect to True North Brew Co. and Kane Yeardley for opening mapquest directions up Abbeydale Picture House to support creative projects like this. Malevolence continues to do the city proud—can’t wait to see the final video and eventually a live gig in that stunning venue. Sheffield’s cultural scene is alive and thriving!
Wow, that sounds amazing! It's great to see local venues like Abbeydale Picture House being brought back to life and used for such a wide range of creative events. I love the idea of it becoming a hub for film, art, and live music. And having Malevolence return for a show after the renovations? That’s going to be something special. Big props to True North Brew Co. for investing in the community like this—I’m definitely keeping an eye on what’s coming next! ragdoll hit
